Site Rules
Rules of the
Beighton Allotment Association
Here are some of the rules in place at Beighton Allotment Association. Please note that it is not intended to be an exhaustive list. For a full list, please see your members handbook/rent book.
New plot-holders
All new plot-holders are on a 90-day probationary period, to ensure that plots are planted and maintained.
Sub-letting and sharing
Sub-letting of plots is not allowed. However, this does not preclude sharing.
New structures
All new buildings and permanent structures (such as sheds and greenhouses) are to be discussed with, and permission granted by, the lettings officer before construction
Plot inspections
Regular inspections of the plots are made by the committee. Any plot-holder who fails to properly cultivate their plot will be served with a letter, giving them 28 days ‘Notice to Quit’ letter. This may be deemed null and void if the committee receives an explanation which is deemed to be satisfactory.
Car park
Do not leave materials in the car park without the prior consent of the committee
Children
Children are only allowed on the allotments with the permission of a plot-holder and should be supervised by an adult at all times.
Dogs
If you bring a dog to the allotment, please keep them under control at all times. Owners must clear up any mess and make good any damage done by their dogs.
Livestock
Livestock must not be kept on the allotments unless agreed by the committee. This includes chickens.
Bees may be kept on site but authorisation MUST be obtained by the Committee first as the number of hives on site and per lane, is strictly monitored and restricted. (Please see the Beekeeping page)
Commercial business
No commercial business may be carried out from the allotment site.
Rent
Rent is paid yearly, in advance, and should be made by the last Sunday in May.
Rubbish
Do not leave rubbish in the lanes. Do not tip rubbish in the car park or on vacant plots.
