Beighton                   Allotments

Welcome to Beighton Allotment Association

(Orchard Lane, Sheffield)

The Beighton Allotment Association is a private allotment site that is run by four Trustees, overseen by a Committee with major changes normally ratified at an annual AGM.

There are approximately 130 plots spread over a six acre site. We currently have a waiting list of around 20 people with a waiting time of approximately 18 months. Plots are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Our rents are currently £25.00 per annum.

HOW TO GET A PLOT AT BEIGHTON ALLOTMENTS

To obtain a plot at Beighton Allotments, you need to complete an application form which can either be downloaded from our website on the Membership-Application Form page, or a paper copy can be obtained from the allotment shop. Your completed form then needs to be submitted to the allotment shop where you will automatically become an Associate Member (which costs £2.00pa) and will join our waiting list. This Associate Membership allows you to purchase items from the shop, get access to the Kings Seeds discount scheme, and benefit from other promotions and offers as well as becoming part of the Beighton Allotment community.

Kings Seeds

We also run a seed scheme in conjunction with Kings Seeds where members receive a 25% discount off the list price on all seeds (see 'Allotment Shop' page for details).

To get your discount please use this link:-

https://www.kingsseeds.com/secure/register?ur=KA905

This registers you for a new account with Kings, which will give you a 25% discount at checkout - AND Beighton Allotment Association then gets 25% as well!

If you have already set up your account using this link, your 25% discount will be applied automatically to ALL new orders for years to come.

The NEW 2025 Kings Seeds Catalogue is now in!!

Electronic orders can be completed any time.

Paper orders need to be returned to the allotment shop by Sunday 27th October 2024 at the latest.

Bonfire / Get rid of your spare wood!

Bonfire Movie - Copy.MOV

We are planning to have a bonfire in the allotments car park on Saturday 9th November, which will be lit at 2pm.

This will not be a social event, but an opportunity for you to dispose of your waste wood, branches, tree stumps, etc., which you would like to clear off your plot.

An area of the car park will be cordoned off from 9am on Thursday 7th November and a bonfire will be built.

Anyone wishing to add to the bonfire will have until 2pm on Saturday, when it will be lit.

Please ensure you stack your timber on the bonfire, adding to the existing structure, rather than just leaving it in the vicinity.

Also, once our timber pen has been emptied of scrap timber, we would ask that ONLY reusable timber may be put in there. NO rotten wood, branches, tree stumps, or useless offcuts please! Thank you.

Garden Inspections 2024

We will be having three garden inspections this year which will take place during the last week of March, June and September, however please ensure your plot complies with the rules at all times as gardens which are not kept in a good condition and cultivated may get a letter to improve (which could lead to an eviction)  at any time.

Excellent Veg is grown all over our site!

The cucumbers aren't bad either!

Some gardeners specialise in flowers....

For others, its a home from home!

2024 AGM & Rents

A big thank you to everyone who attended this years AGM at its new venue, the Beighton Lifestyle Centre.

The minutes of the AGM will be available on request by email and will be permanently available for members to view in the allotment shop once approved at the next committee meeting at the end of April.

This years rent of £25.00 was approved by the majority of voting members at the AGM and so will remain at the 2020 level for another year.

Allotment Shop

All plot holders automatically become Full Association members, and as such get Free access to our shop, however, for £2.00pa (payable on joining and then in January each year). Anyone can become an Associate member and will then also be eligible to buy from our shop.

The shop (which is open from the first Saturday in February until the last Sunday in October), offers discounted composts and fertilisers as well as potatoes, onions, garlic and other items for planting when in season.
